MongoDB is an agile and scalable, high-preformance database. Like all good software mongo db is open course and it's written in the C++ programming language. MongoDB is document-oriented storage. JSON-style documents offer simlicity & power through dynamic schemas. Mongo boasts full index support, replication & high availablie, querying & fast updates. Even though mongoDB is free (as in open-source) commercial, enterprise level support, training and consultation is available.
MongoDB Features:
MongoDB have great documentation with quckstarts, tutorials, forums, blogs, security & event you'll find more information then you could possibly consume in one sitting alone.
One of my favorite bits of documentation is Mongo Security & Authentication. You'll find security details including the basic authentication scheme and it's features/limitations. At the time of writing Mongo supports only very basic security. Details of authentication, users, read and write permissions, ports and other security issues are clearly outlined which is a pleasant surprise.
You can try out mongoDB through their online shell, download it or get the latest drivers. The browser shell is actually really impressive, and complements their snappy, clean website.
For those that love to tinker, check it out and see how you like Mongo.
